I am a male American citizen living in USA.. I got married in June 2012 in Lebanon under the islamic law in Tripoli. My wife came with me to USA to live.. On October she left USA to visit Lebanon and she is still there. Her immigration papers are revoked and she cant come to USA cause she spent lot of time in Lebanon more than she should be. I wasnt happy cause she left without my permission. She left promising me that she will go back. every month I ask her to go back but she never did. Now she is asking for divorce for no good reason against her. I asked her why u want a divorce she says cause she just wants to. and i dont want a divorce. the q is.. if she does a divorce case can she gets nafa2a?? if yes how much.. and i want to know what is the worse case against me.. how long the case will take to get divorced.. and will she get a divorce if i am stubborn not to divorce her.. are the ppl in mahkameh shar3iyeh in tripoli are good ppl and do the right thing.. cause her dad is a "big thing" in the military..

Dear Noah,

According to Sharia'a law, woman has no right to divorce, but the judge could divorce her in some cases. Also, if a woman asks for divorce for no reason, she will lose her right to alimony "nafaqua". However, the decision is up to the judge and varies according to each case.
